Hell hath no fury like a pitcher scorned.
As mentioned in his last Player of the Week profile, Carlos Rodón has taken a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’. Confronted with devastating injuries and then dropped from the White Sox roster, fate carved out a wickedly difficult path for the pitcher.
But his red-hot spring gave us a glimpse of what could be.
After claiming his spot in the starting rotation, Los got right to work. He’s given up only two paltry hits across 14 innings, while whipping up a steady 16 K’s. His near-perfect game was a thrilling watch, and echoed with memories of Buehrle’s dominant outing in 2009.
Across a couple weeks of White Sox heroes old and new, Rodón has sent Chicago a message that he’s here to stay.
Let’s keep his flame lit.
