Gentlemen, start your engines. And may the best White Sox ... win!

The theme? Yoán Moncada realness
The White Sox managed to bounce back on Wednesday after a tough loss and even tougher day of overall morale. Tension seemed to be apparent, at least according to fans of the team, so Yoán Moncada Day was the boost everyone needed.
The White Sox Twitter account originally posted pictures of Zack Collins, Carlos Rodón, Yermín Mercedes, Dylan Cease, Evan Marshall and Nick Madrigal. As a team, we flocked to Instagram for Moncada and Mercedes as soon as the live notification was delivered to our devices. Soon after, an outreach to rank some of the best dressed spawned from Janice on Twitter; the replies flew in and did not disappoint.
Chrystal’s Top Three
I have no idea how I’m supposed to pick a favorite, because there are easily 10-15 players and coaching staff that should make it to the top of my list. I’m basing my picks on vibes and commitment to the theme.
Dylan Cease Deep down I know he is attractive, but the leopard print romper and chain combined with the perfect coif and icy wrist pose elevates Cease to the top. The women of White Sox Twitter (including men and non-binary folks) swooned, including myself.

Lance Lynn Is he an LGBTQ+ icon in his rainbow zebra print get up? I was unsure if I could add him based on a photo from shoulders and up, so I used Google to see if I could find a men’s zebra rainbow romper. Hopefully, Lynn got plenty of Kohl’s cash on his novelty suit and tie set.
José Abreu If “Desastre Personal” was released during a Chicago winter, Abreu’s outfit would be perfect. His sweatsuit with the chain and matching mask is perfect. I’d be showing my age if I said swagger, so I’ll go with drip. More Abreu love came from @ValiendoPadres and @asharizsports.
Janice’s Top Three
My top three picks are based on the adherence to the theme: I need to see some kind of Moncada channelling, and this won’t always be via fashion, but through presentation, too.
Lance Lynn could very well be the winner of this whole road trip, with what looks like a festive rainbow zebra blazer over a black (deep v-neck?) T-shirt. Pride month isn’t just in June! While I’d give extra points if it was a full, one-piece, rainbow ensemble, Lance’s shades, well-groomed beard, and slicked-back hair all scream Yoán, while maintaining an indescribable attractive air that’s our No. 3 starter’s very own. More love for Lynn came from SSS writer Trevor Lines (@tlines2), as well as @TheTyronePalmer, @anxious_chisox and @marcos_chi_.

Dylan Cease The white sneakers. The thick gold chain. The purple romper. Hot boy summer is upon us, and Cease knows it. No. 4 in the rotation, but No. 1 in our hearts.
Nick Madrigal might look like your little brother after pillaging through your closet. Backwards cap, shades, gold chain, bomber jacket, bright yellow sneakers. Madrigal committed to the look from head to toe, and did not let his size affect how large this presentation was. And that puts him in my top three. Agreeing with me in Twitterland is Father Zo (@SouthsideZo).
Twitter Favorites
We polled our Twitter faithful on their favorite outfits from this Moncada-themed Getaway Day!
Dallas Keuchel was a resounding fan favorite, sporting a navy sport coat and shorts set, patterned with an elegant pink-and-white bird print. Our SB Nation sister Sara Sanchez of Bleed Cubbie Blue commented that the patterned short suit can’t be taken seriously, yet that’s what makes the ensemble yet so fire. Writer Britni de la Cretaz agreed; they found that Keuchel’s short set was especially flattering to his lower half.
Newest South Side Sox staff member Dick Reillo commented that Big D energy...does things to him. Us too, Dick. Us, too. Our correspondent from across the pond, @WsoxUK commented that Dallas was also among the best-dressed.

Lucas Giolito’s taco cat print ensemble, coupled with the shades, slicked back hair, and signature smile didn’t go unnoticed, to South Side Sox faithful reader Alexis Atwater.

Like Chrystal mentioned above, Dylan Cease seemed to be the darling of the Twitter world, registering all sorts of thirst responses from fans of all genders. “The fact I think Cease is sorta a hottie might be biased tho,” comments South Side Sox staffer Amber Giese (@coldwars). Other Cease appreciators: @schustee, @deestweets23, @dani_phantom10, @90feetfromhome, and South Side Sox’s own Ali White (@aliwhitesox).
Yermín Mercedes told us on Monday that he had a commitment to “being Yermín,” and with his comic book style tracksuit, multiple gold chains, and branded cap, our fan responses resonate that appreciation: @wolfram40, @sydrpfp, @CheapSeats411 and @rjgianfortune.

Lefty reliever Aaron Bummer chose to go with a traditional one-piece romper for his runway look, a dark green print with lush pink tropical flowers and accents. On Twitter, @SouthSideJan felt as if Bummer wasn’t getting enough recognition for this outfit.

Honorable Mention
Chrystal As I previously stated, there were too many that I wanted to pick for my top. Codi Heuer’s earring usage made him hard to ignore. Zack Collins made me wish I was poolside drinking a Mai Tai. Nick Madrigal had the best sunglasses of the bunch. Known home run hitter Jake Lamb looked like a guy you would meet on a cruise. However, Daryl Boston made waves with his bright yellow suit jacket, aviator shades and white pants with a colorful print. He gave me Miami Vice vibes.
Janice We can all agree that the starting rotation went especially into this challenge; Giolito, Cease, Keuchel, Carlos Rodón, and Lynn were all worthy of being in the top three. The large-scale pineapple print of Collins’ romper is so audacious, that it works. Evan Marshall’s color-block blue blazer accessorized with gold chains was a strong pick. Billy Hamilton’s bright colors and brilliant hoodie paid tribute to Yoan’s style, while maintaining that undeniable BHam charm, with recognition from @MailmanJack65, @KjellRules, @jmtryneski, and @DyeMasterDiscs. Abreu held true to himself, while also paying adequate tribute to his teammate, with the added neck candy. Speaking of which, accessories absolutely matter, hence why Heuer also makes my honorable mentions list. We love attention to detail!

Chrystal’s Bottom Three
I won’t state the obvious person that did not participate in the theme. I’m going to simply pretend he was left at the Mall of America with a Subway gift card. So, who didn’t try hard enough?
Liam Hendriks At first I thought he was just wearing camo sweats. Perhaps he didn’t have time to go all-out after his great appearance on the mound to save the game on Wednesday, but it didn’t scream tropical party music video with Moncada.
Ethan Katz This outfit would be better suited for a casual hotel room slumber party at Comic Con. Or maybe the superhero pajamas my son used to wear when he was five.
Adam Eaton By default, he is also here because he is wearing the same outfit as Katz. Yes, I realize Yermín and Danny Mendick match as well, but they have more … flavor?
Janice’s Bottom Three
I hate to penalize anyone for showing up in the same outfit. But unless you sell it and make the outfit your own, it doesn’t work. Mercedes and Mendick are in almost identical outfits, but Yermin’s wearing his branded cap and layered Moncada gold chains, as pointed out by Sydney (@sydrpfp); Danny’s rocking the chest hair and shades.
Ethan Katz gets some credit for trying here, but he definitely could have tried to set himself apart from Adam Eaton (and vice versa). I’m with Chrystal, in that this boom-pow comic book sweatsuit garb doesn’t really turn the pages for me.
Yasmani Grandal’s lack of color or presentation here is also a detriment for me. I’m not getting Moncada, I’m getting weekend-trip-to-Bass-Pro-Shops from this.
Who’s lip syncing for their lives?
Chrystal I hate to say thi,s but if I’m eliminating anyone from this race it’s going to be Liam Hendriks. I was bored, and it looked more like camo than anything else.
Janice Like Chrystal, I was unimpressed by Liam’s drab sweatsuit, topped with a highlighter-yellow Adidas cap. Grandal definitely did not understand the assignment; he’s dressed as if he’s going on a hunting trip with a cooler full of Busch Light, not like he’s living his best life on the set of the “Desastre Personal” video.
What song are they lip syncing to? It’s Yoán day after all, so obviously our bottom two will lip sync to the hottest single of the summer.
No matter who wins the lip sync battle between Hendriks or Grandal, we all know one person we’d like to see sashay away: Tony La Russa.
Though the SSS staff has weighed in on these Getaway Day fashions, we’ll leave the best-dressed up to our faithful readers.
