Gamethread: White Sox at Royals

Can the South Side pitching dominance continue?

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but the White Sox outfield appears to be banged up.

How banged up? Well, tonight’s starting outfield consists of Andrew Vaughn in LF, Leury García in CF, and Danny Mendick (!) in RF. Time will tell if this alignment becomes a point of discussion at some point during the game. Brian Goodwin can’t get called up soon enough.

In other news, Lance Lynn, aka Thicc Nasty, takes the mound as the White Sox look to continue their pitching dominance. The White Sox team ERA is nearly a full run lower than the next-best pitching staff, and Lynn in particular pitched incredibly well last time he faced the Royals, spinning a shutout.

Here is the full starting lineup for the White Sox.

The Royals will trot out lefty prospect Daniel Lynch, who makes his second career start. He struggled with his command in his debut, walking four and striking out three in 4 23 innings. However, this first-round pick is lauded for his fastball-slider combination and overall stuff, so he may give some of the struggling White Sox bats a hard time.

To add to the intrigue, the Royals will also have a rookie catcher making his debut. Sebastian Rivero has been praised for his defensive ability, but you can bet the Tony La Russa-led White Sox will attempt to add pressure to this young battery whenever they can.

Here is the full Royals lineup:

Game time starts at 6:10 on NBC Sports Chicago or MLB.TV. Chrystal O’Keefe, who’s already penned our debut Show and Tell Saturday essay today, is on the Six Pack of Stats.
