The White Sox (35-22) won in epic fashion on Friday night, giving them the best record in the American League. Now, they’re set to debut their City Connect uniforms against the Tigers.
Around here, we have our own mentality.

It’s an attitude embraced by our team and fans. It’s grit and hard work.

Fresh off of his ejection (!) from the dugout on Thursday, Lucas Giolito (3.73 ERA, 3.87 FIP) takes the mound in the midst of his best stretch of the season. He’s won his last three starts, sporting a 1.29 ERA, 28 strikeouts and six walks over 21 innings. Giolito gets a chance to avenge an April 27 loss to the Tigers, when Detroit tagged him for four earned runs, five hits, three walks and seven strikeouts in 6 2⁄3 innings.
9 years ago yesterday, a 17yo @LGio27 was drafted & his HS Pitching Coach @ethankatz & his lovely wife @V_lots were there to celebrate. We’ve come full circle. Amazing. *Thnx 2 Steph 4 reminding me pic.twitter.com/aFI3J8Um1A

Look at baby Lucas!
The Tigers will have lefthander Tarik Skubal (4.59 ERA, 5.79 FIP) make the start. Skubal has the most losses (7) in the AL, and it’s due to more than simply playing for the lowly Tigers. He’s given up the fourth-most home runs (13) in baseball, while his 4.2 BB/9 contributes to a high 1.449 WHIP. That said, he’s coming off of six shutout innings against the Yankees, which included eight strikeouts. The White Sox haven’t faced Skubal this year, but they scored four runs on seven hits in his two-inning start last season.
Here’s a look at the lineups:
