After the thrilling 2-1 victory over Cleveland (52-51), the White Sox (62-44) are back in action tonight against the Royals (45-59). The Royals enter tonight’s action with a three-game losing streak, but prior to that, they had won eight of their last nine games.
For the second time in the past week, Dylan Cease will start a game against the Royals. Cease’s last start was on July 26, when he allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings against Kansas City. Cease got a no-decision, but the White Sox won by a score of 5-3. Cease enters tonight’s game with a 4.14 ERA, 3.88 xERA, 3.61 FIP, and 2.5 fWAR.
Kris Bubic, a 23-year-old left-hander, will start for Kansas City. Bubic has a 4.58 ERA, 5.63 xERA, 5.51 FIP, and -0.2 fWAR this season. Bubic has pitched 11 2⁄3 innings against the White Sox this season, and his numbers are strong (1.54 ERA, 0.857 WHIP, .154/.233/.179 opposing slash line).

Eloy Jiménez is back in the starting lineup, folks. That is excellent news for the middle of the order.
Earlier, the White Sox made the following announcement:
Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. Kansas City, the #WhiteSox recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Foster from Class AAA Charlotte.

Foster will replace Jimmy Lambert, who was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte.
The game will start at 7:10 p.m. CST. As usual, NBC Sports Chicago will televise the game, and WMVP 1000 AM will have the radio coverage. Time to solve Bubic for the first time this season.
