We’re back in Cleveland tonight, cats and kittens. After splitting the doubleheader yesterday the White Sox are looking to continue hitting bombs out of Progressive Field in batting practice, and Cleveland is just trying to get back to .500.
Tonight’s pitching matchup will be Dylan Cease and Shane “Not Justin” Bieber. Bieber is coming back after a long stint on the IL for shoulder issues (he hasn’t started a major league game since June) and Cease is looking to continue to ride the wave of his impressive season.
The Biebs is 3-0 in his last five against the White Sox, posting a 2.18 ERA over 33 innings while fanning 47 and walking nine. In his four starts against Cleveland, Cease is 1-2 over 17 1⁄3 innings, posting a 7.28 ERA while striking out 18 and walking eight. Cleveland has hit Cease pretty well over the last couple of years to the tune of 21 hits and 14 earned runs.
José Abreu and José Ramírez are leading their respective teams in home runs (29 and 35, respectively) and RBIs (113 and 96), while Tim Anderson and Amed Rosario are leading in batting average (.306 and .279).
Here’s how everyone is lining it up tonight:
The game’s on NBCSports Chicago for locals, MLB.TV for anyone else, and ESPN 1000 for the radio listeners among us. Come back after the game and see how we did, or mock my recap abilities. The choice is yours.
