We’ve reached the final game! One team goes home, the other goes to the World Series. The Rangers knocked the ever-powerful Astros out of contention in a blowout thanks to Adolis García, or maybe karma for Bryan Abreu’s actions. Either way, only one team can win the National League pennant and advance to the big stage.
The Diamondbacks will take on the Phillies once again in the rarely calm and quiet Philadelphia. If the Phillies happen to win, I hope they have an escape route, as the city isn’t known for cool, calm, and collected celebrations when their teams win. Or, well, calmness when a team loses.
Let’s see how the teams are constructed for tonight.
Ranger Suárez takes the mound tonight. Suárez has become quite the star in the postseason, posting the lowest ERA for a starting pitcher ever recorded with at least five starts (0.94). Through three starts in the 2023 MLB Playoffs, he owns a 1-0 record and 0.64 ERA through 14 innings.

Rookie Brandon Pfaadt gets the start for the Snakes. Pfaadt has thrown 5 2⁄3 scoreless innings and struck out nine in a Game 3 NLCS victory over the Phillies. Against the Dodgers in the NLDS, Pfaadt tossed 4 1⁄3 scoreless frames and gave up only two hits and no walks.
