The Glendale Desert Dogs had their opening day yesterday. As a reminder, the White Sox players (along with their presumptive roles) on the team are:
SS Tim Anderson
RHSP Frank Montas
RHRP Chris Bassitt
LHRP Scott Snodgress
LHRP Jefferson Olacio
C Kevan Smith
3B Nick Basto
Glendale beat Mesa 9-3. Kevan Smith went 1-4 with a double and a strikeout. He also committed a throwing error on a stolen base. After Glendale's starter got beat up early, Chris Bassitt came on in relief in the second inning and threw 2.1 scoreless innings, striking out three and giving up two hits. Snippet on him:
Enter Chris Bassitt (White Sox) whose fastball checked in at 94-95 mph with a hard 85-87 slider. Bassitt pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing the Desert Dogs’ offense to get going.
Montas will get the start on Thursday.
