Lost in the end-of-season stuff and the offseason plan project, the Arizona Fall League started this past week.
Larry previewed the White Sox' Arizona Fall League participants upon the release of the initial rosters, but Courtney Hawkins' plantar fasciitis was deemed too big of a risk and Keon Barnum is undergoing knee surgery, so Trey Michalczewski and Adam Engel ended up taking their places. The pitchers remained the same, and you can read about Michalczewski and Engel in the Winston-Salem Dash season recap.
As it stands now, here's the White Sox contingent on the Glendale Desert Dogs, with their season lines to date through three games.
Pitchers:
-
Brandon Brennan: 1 G, 1 GS, 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
-
Robin Leyer: 1 G, 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
-
Peter Tago: 1 G, 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
-
J.B. Wendelken: 1 G, 0.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 1 BB, 1 K
Position players:
-
Nicky Delmonico: 1-for-6, one homer, one strikeout
-
Trey Michalczewski: 1-for-5, four strikeouts
-
Jake Peter: 0-for-4, one CS
-
Adam Engel: 1-for-7, two walks, one strikeout, one stolen base.
Some initial impressions:
#Whitesox Robin Leyer 94-96, everything straight minus 40 breaking ball.

#WhiteSox Nicky Delmonico just hit a high blast to the berm in right field. He has some real pop in his bat. Barrel of the bat hitter.

No games were scheduled on Saturday because of the Bowman Hitting Challenge, and Sundays are a dark day for league. So box scores will appear in the comments starting Monday.
