While Brad Penny and Matt Lindstrom have combined to allow 16 runs over 12 innings, the youth down in Charlotte is doing what it can to shore up the depth by itself.

*Carlos Sanchez was named the International League Player of the Week. He took his demotion well, hitting .485/.500/.606 with four doubles over 34 plate appearances.

*Trayce Thompson has hit safely in all 10 games -- his first 10 in Triple-A -- good for a .385/.405/.590 line.

*Erik Johnson has allowed just one run and six baserunners (all hits) over eight innings, striking out seven.

*Maikel Cleto refuses to leave the picture (5.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K).
