A few things before proceeding to those sweet, sweet box scores:
*Birmingham Barons broadcaster Curt Bloom sat down with Courtney Hawkins for a 10-minute interview. They cut it into two parts. The first part deals with the start to his season, including spring training:
Part 2 goes into the homer off the train, his personality, and his assessment of baseball's ability to attract young African-Americans.
Hawkins is still a ways off, but he's progressing nicely through his first two months at Double-A.
- April: .225/.267/.479; 5.3% walk rate; 36.8% strikeout rate.
- May: .290/.380/.419; 8.5% walk rate; 28.3% strikeout rate.
*Jordan Guerrero extended his scoreless streak to 20 innings after going five against Hickory on Friday. He improved to 6-0 with a 1.24 ERA, and 56 strikeouts to just 10 walks over 51 innings. He's already been named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week twice, including May 11-17.
*Dorn brought this up in the last thread before I sank it:
One international scout here in Panama told me Cuban OF prospect Eddy Julio Martinez reminded him of a young Andruw Jones."He's legit, man."

Add White Sox to list of teams with serious interest in Eddy J. Martinez. They've followed him since 2011 & closely the last 3 months. #Cuba
