Zack Collins’ professional career got off to a false start in the Arizona Rookie League, as he went 1-for-11 with seven strikeouts in the desert.
Perhaps he knew that he was supposed to be in the Carolina League all along. Now that the White Sox have launched his career in earnest in Winston-Salem, he’s launching High-A pitching.
Collins went 5-for-12 with two homers, a double and four walks over 16 plate appearances over his first weekend with the Dash. He’s also driven in eight of the 27 runs the Dash scored over the three games. The breakdown:
- Friday: 3-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, BB, K
- Saturday: 1-for-6, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K
- Sunday: 1-for-2, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB
Both of Collins’ homers have been to the opposite field. Here’s his first homer on Friday ...
... and here’s Sunday’s, which isn’t as majestic, but visible from start to finish:
Sunday’s box scores will appear in the comments shortly.
