White Sox Minor League Update: July 31-Aug. 6

Scores, stats, and news from the White Sox farm system

The White Sox still have baseball's worst combined record among their minor-league affiliates, but fortunately, minor league baseball's rules tilt in their favor.

Charlotte is out of luck, but the rest of the teams have a theoretical shot at the postseason if they can win the second-half championship. The Birmingham Barons are just about out of it, starting the second half 15-21 and six games out of first, but the others have a little more daylight.

  • Winston-Salem: 17-20, but only three games back of first-place Myrtle Beach.
  • Kannapolis: 19-17, two games back of Hagerstown.
Both teams have benefited from the arrival of collegiate hitters, although the Dash's hot streak was interrupted by Zack Collins' concussion.

The White Sox' rookie league affiliates also play by the same rules, but their seasons just flipped to Side B this past week. The Great Falls Voyagers are the only Sox affiliate with the distinction of a winning half, finishing the first 21-17. Alas, that was only good for a second-place finish, two games behind first-half champion Billings.

Sunday's box scores will appear below shortly.
