For the second time under the system, the White Sox will pay an overage tax after exceeding their draft pool money.

The White Sox finished signing their Day 2 draft picks by reportedly coming to terms with:

McClure and Skoug join second-rounder Gavin Sheets and eighth-rounder Sam Abbott in signing above-slot deals among picks within the first 10 rounds, and all in all, the White Sox are going to have to pay a 75-percent tax on an overage that’s about $35,000 on their $7,921,400 draft pool. This comes after going well into the penalty territory for signing Luis Robert, so one can say the White Sox are taking this part of the rebuilding seriously.
