Before Reynaldo Lopez was scheduled to start for Charlotte when he should’ve been in Chicago, Rick Hahn addressed the obvious issue at Guaranteed Rate Field:

“Getting close; he’s forcing the issue,’’ general manager Rick Hahn said Wednesday before the Sox played host to the Cubs in the third game of the Crosstown Showdown. “He’s had several starts in a row that have been very impressive.’’

He tacked on one more, striking out 10 Columbus Clippers over five innings in an extra-innings victory for the Knights.

He headlined an impressive day for the pitchers. One level down, Michael Kopech struck out 12 over six strong innings for Birmingham, and below him, Dane Dunning fanned six over seven shutout innings.
