The White Sox doused some of their own trade-deadline excitement when they acquired not one, but two injured position players in their flurry of activity. First, they dealt Anthony Swarzak to Milwaukee for Ryan Cordell, a potential fourth outfielder battling a back problem at the moment. Then they traded Dan Jennings for Casey Gillaspie, whose tough year at Triple-A was exacerbated by a broken toe.
This being the case, it’s no fun that the Birmingham Barons placed Tito Polo on the disabled list one week into his career in the White Sox organization, retroactive to Saturday. He was 7-for-26 with a triple and a double over his first seven games with the Barons.
