The White Sox made a couple of their biggest minor-league moves of the season on Tuesday by promoting Zack Collins and Eloy Jimenez to Birmingham. The Barons were idle on Tuesday, so they’ll get their first taste of Double-A tonight.

Jimenez was probably too good for High-A before the White Sox acquired him, and he was definitely too good after joining Winston-Salem. Collins finally forced the issue in August, hitting .343/.500/.686 with just eight strikeouts over 48 plate appearances after spending most of the year dealing with contact issues.

The Barons transferred Toby Thomas to open one spot, with a corresponding move to come later today.
