Eloy Jimenez and Zack Collins homer in their Birmingham debuts

Eloy Jimenez and Zack Collins wasted no time getting acclimated to Birmingham.

Both players made Regions Field look small in their debuts with the Barons. Jimenez went 2-for-4 with a homer and a double, and Collins brushed off two strikeouts with a no-doubter of his own during Birmingham’s 9-4 victory over Montgomery.

Charlotte 8, Toledo 3

  • Jacob May singled twice, walked once and struck out twice. He also swiped a bag.
  • Jake Peter went 2-for-4 with a walk and two stolen bases.
  • Rymer Liriano, 1-for-3 with two walks.
  • Casey Gillaspie was 1-for-4 with a walk.
  • D.J. Peterson, 1-for-5.
  • Danny Hayes went 1-for-2 with a double and a sac fly.

  • Tito Polo went 1-for-4 with a stolen base.
  • Eloy Jimenez went 2-for-4 with a homer, double and strikeout
  • Zack Collins homered, walked and struck out twice.
  • Nick Basto went 1-for-3 with a double, walk and strikeout.
  • Courtney Hawkins was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
  • Trey Michalczewski wore the golden sombrero.

  • Joel Booker went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
  • Yeyson Yrizarri was 1-for-2.
  • Seby Zavala, 1-for-4 with a double and a strikeout.
  • Jameson Fisher doubled, singled and struck out twice. He also stole a base.
