White Sox Minor League Update: Aug. 3, 2017

The farm system is now top-two in baseball

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Keeping Reynaldo Lopez in Charlotte accomplishes one thing: It allows the White Sox to have the best farm system in baseball.

That’s what Jim Callis and MLB.com says, anyway, as the club’s midseason boost of prospects has propelled it from the third spot to No. 1. Baseball America quibbles a bit, labeling the White Sox system as “elite,” but with the Braves edging it out.

Unanimity is going to be difficult to come by, because even if the Sox avoid giving Lopez the six innings he needs to eclipse rookie eligibility, Yoan Moncada is 60 plate appearances away from losing his prospect status.
