Kannapolis’ season ends in the South Atlantic League Championship Series

The Kannapolis Intimidiators came up two games short in their quest to win their first South Atlantic League Championship Series since 2005.

While they were able to come back from a three-run Greenville first to tie the game at 3 in the fourth, they had no answer for a five-run sixth. Hence, the Drive won the Sally League title with an 8-3 victory on Friday.

There were highlights, including:

The loss leaves Great Falls as the last White Sox affiliate standing. The Voyagers need to win both of their remaining games to capture the Pioneer League.

Greenville 8, Kannapolis 3

  • Alex Call homered, singled twice, walked once and struck out once.
  • Blake Rutherford went 0-for-5 with a strikeout.
  • Jake Burger, 1-for-5 with a double and two strikeouts.
  • Gavin Sheets was 1-for-4.
  • Luis Gonzalez, 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
  • Evan Skoug was 1-for-3 with a homer, walk and strikeout.
  • Joel Booker went 1-for-4 with a K.
  • Andre Davis took the loss: 0.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
  • Kade McClure: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
